- Sport Evolution — was produced in the number of 600 units and has a 235 hp engine, a larger front bumper with an adjustable spoiler and brake cooling inlets in place of fog lights,
- Cecotto — this is the most limited version, with an engine of 212 hp, only 25 units were made.
BMW M3 E36
The BMW M3 E36 was available in coupe, sedan and convertible bodies. They were offered with manual and automatic transmission. In most markets, a 3.0 engine with 282 hp worked under the hood, but the North American versions have 240 hp.
In 1995, the car underwent a facelift and was sold with a 3.2 engine with 316 hp. For the version for the American market, a power of 240 hp was left. Only then did the car go to the United States, and in 1997 sales began in Canada. In total, 32,932 copies of this model went to customers in the USA.
A limited edition M3 Lightweight has been developed especially for the American market. It was devoid of radio, air conditioning, sunroof and mute hood. The weight of the car was reduced by 91 kg. The exact number of units produced is unknown, but according to various sources, it exceeded 100 units, so if you want to have a unique car, then it is worth looking around for it at auction.
BMW M3 E46
The BMW M3 E46 was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was sold in coupe and sedan versions. The car “played” the main role in the game “Need for Speed: Most Wanted”, where the GTR version appeared.
The BMW M3 E46 was offered with a 3.2 engine with 338 hp, and in the American market the power was 337 hp. New was the introduction of an electronic throttle control system (ride-by-wire), which provides a precise response to the movements of the gas pedal.
Special versions sold in the USA:
- M3 Competition Package — is distinguished by 19″ diameter BBS rims, stiffer suspension, M-track mode, larger front brake discs, CSL steering wheel trimmed with alcantara;

BMW M3 E90/E92/E93
In the next generation The sedan has returned to the M3 range. Production of the model began in 2007 and was initially sold only with a manual transmission. In 2008, a version with a dual-clutch automatic transmission DCT was also introduced. The 4.0 V8 engine generates 420 hp. The car has earned the title of the best sports car, which can be used both for shopping and for the race track.
Along with this generation, the M Performance Parts catalog of accessories has also been prepared, including the exhaust system, which reduced the weight of the car by as much as 9 kg.
Special versions:
- Paket konkurrence — the changes included the suspension, which was lowered by 10 mm, the settings of the shock absorbers were changed, the M mode was added and the wheels with a diameter of 19˝;
- GTS — the engine capacity was increased to 4.4 l, the power increased to 444 hp, the weight was reduced by 136 kg, a suspension with the ability to adjust the height and angle of inclination of the wheels was introduced, larger brakes were installed, the car was produced in the number of 135 units. ;
- CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) — was never offered in the USA, only 67 units were produced, had an engine from the GTS version, the weight was reduced by 68 kg compared to the base M3 thanks to the use of carbon fiber parts;
- DTM Champion Edition — 54 units were produced, changes included painting, carbon fiber interior elements were added;
- Lime Rock Park Edition — version intended only for the US market, 200 units were produced, the suspension was lowered by 10 mm, the rear spoiler and diffuser of the front bumper were made of carbon fiber.
BMW M3 F80
it first generation with turbocharged engine, the volume of which was 3.0 liters.The maximum power increased to 431 hp. The car was produced only in the sedan version, since the coupe began to be sold as the BMW 4 Series. In the M Performance Parts catalog appeared the vaporization elements made of carbon fiber.
Special versions:
- CS — the engine power was increased to 453 hp, the car was reduced by 50 kg, a total of 1200 units were produced. ;
- M3 30-Year Edition — the jubilee edition built using the Competition package, 500 copies were produced and 150 went to the USA, cars sold for the American market were only available in Macao Blue from the Individual palette;
- M3 Velocity Edition — this is probably the most interesting version, because it was created for soldiers stationed in Stuttgart, only 20 units were produced, the car has the Competition package and was available only in the color Fashion Gray Metallic.
BMW M3 G80/G81
The current generation BMW M3 has been produced since 2020 and is offered in two body options - sedan and station wagon. It has a turbocharged engine with 479 hp and an xDrive drive can be ordered as an option. Until now, all BMW M3 were only available with rear-wheel drive.
Special versions:
