BMW M2 F87 (2016-2018)

The first generation of the BMW M2 has the model designation F87 and is based on the BMW 2 platform of the F22/F23 series. This is a compact rear-wheel drive car. The suspension has been lowered by 20 mm and is stiffer. Aluminum rocker arms and more powerful brakes with 380 mm diameter discs at the front and 370 mm at the rear were also used. The stylistic changes included, among others, the widening of the wheel arches.

The 3.0 R6 Twin-Turbo engine generates 405 hp, and the maximum torque is 550 Nm. It has M sports seats with electric adjustment, iDrive system with 8.8" screen, Harman Kardon audio system.
• M2 CS - based on the M2 Competition model, it was offered in 2020 and 2021. About 600 units officially arrived in the USA. It has an engine boosted to 444 hp. The roof, hood and aerodynamic elements are made of carbon fiber, which saved 25 kg. An adaptive M suspension with stiffness adjustment is also installed. Inside appeared M Carbon bucket seats, trimmed with Alcantara and a steering wheel trimmed with Alcantara. Exhaust changed to M Performance with tone adjustment. The car was very popular in the USA due to the presence of a manual transmission.
• M2 Black Shadow Edition - produced in 2018, a total of 600 units were made, of which about 100 went to the USA. It is based on the basic M2. The manufacturer has bet only on stylistic changes. The car is in Black Sapphire Metallic with a matte finish, 19" wheels in black mat, aerodynamic package in black, and a badge with the number plate is installed in the interior.

BMW M2 G87 (2023-present)

In the case of the second generation BMW M2, the engineers made their work a little easier. Instead of refreshing the platform used in only one model, they adapted the base from the M3 and M4 models.
