In 2009, the BMW X6 was introduced. In the M version of the BMW X6, the engine has a volume of 4.4 litres and is a V8 twin-turbo engine with a capacity of 547 hp. Works with a 6-speed M Sports automatic transmission with paddles at the steering wheel. It has an active suspension, which is lowered by 10 mm compared to the basic version.

In 2009, the X6 ActiveHybrid was introduced, which also featured a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine. The total power of the set is 479 hp. The car was only offered in the United States. The car allows you to drive in fully electric mode at speeds up to 60 km/h.

BMW X6 — 2nd generation — F16

In 2015, the second generation of the BMW X6 was launched. The specifications have changed a lot, since the car was built on the X5 floor slab. The car had a larger trunk and richer standard equipment than the previous BMW X6. Combustion has also improved and in some cases it has been reduced by as much as 20 percent.

The 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine in the xDrive50i has been improved and the power has been increased to 445 hp. It works with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission with blades located at the steering wheel. New is the introduction in the US of the sDrive35i version, which is the first rear-wheel drive BMW X6. It has a six-cylinder in-line turbocharged engine with a capacity of 300 hp.

To reduce fuel consumption, the ECO PRO mode is presented, which is combined with navigation. When it is activated, the system tells the driver when to take his foot off the gas to save. In turn, the work of the engine and gearbox is tuned in such a way as to promote driving at the lowest possible revs.

The BMW X6 M was shown in 2015 at the Losail circuit in Qatar. Under the hood was again a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine. Its maximum power is 567 hp. In addition, the manufacturer has released two lines of accessories with the M logo. One is dedicated to the X5 M, and the other - to the other engine variants in the M Sport package.

In the diesel range, only the 3.0 turbo with the designation N57 has already appeared and powers ranging from 255 hp in the xDrive30d to 375 hp in the M50d. At the same time, the xDrive30d is the lightest BMW X6. The weight here is only 2070 kg.

BMW X6 — 3rd generation — G06

Currently, the third generation of the X6 model is sold in dealerships. Production started in 2019. The car has grown slightly, has better aerodynamics and a lowered center of gravity. The glass surface of the panoramic roof has been increased by 83 percent.

Adaptive LED headlights, which are part of the standard equipment, have appeared in the car, among others. As standard, the user also receives the iDrive 7.0 system with two 12.3" screens. The list of optional equipment includes BMW Laser Light headlights and a hydraulic suspension that can be lowered by up to 80 mm. It can work in Snow, Sand, Gravel and Rock Terrain modes. The optional Dynamic Handling Package includes, among other things, active power steering. Also interesting are the optional cup holders with the function of heating and cooling drinks.

Initially, the car was sold on the American market in two versions - XLine and M Sport. The M Sport variant has, among others, the M Sport suspension and M Sport brakes with increased performance. For the M50i and M50d engines, there is also a sporty M Sport exhaust system and an electronically controlled differential.

The sDrive40i and xDrive40i have an improved 3.0 twin-turbo engine with 335 hp. This is up to 33 hp more compared to the previous generation. In the M50i variant, an improved 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine with 523 hp appeared.

In 2023, the BMW X6 G06 has undergone a facelift. Inside, a curved BMW Curved Display with the new BMW Operating System 8 operating system has been installed. Among the changes are also a new gear selector and sports seats as standard.

The most important novelty, however, is the introduction of a soft hybrid with a new 4.4 V8 internal combustion engine in the M60i variant. All engine versions are offered with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox. In the xDrive40i and M60i variants, the adaptive M suspension has appeared as standard. The new electronics package includes, among other things, the possibility of autonomous driving at speeds of up to 135 km/h, provided the driver is constantly focused on the road.
