The first generation of the Macan is based on the MLB platform, on which the first generation Audi Q5 was also based. It has a steel frame, and some elements have been made of aluminum for weight reduction (hood, tailgate). In addition to the classic suspension, based on McPherson struts at the front and the multi-link design at the rear, Porsche also offered an air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management as an option.
