The dimensions of the two-door versions of this car make it go almost everywhere. Jeep Wrangler - 1st generation (YJ)

The first generation of the Wrangler was created when the Jeep brand was owned by Renault. It was developed by AMC and made its debut under Chrysler. Production in the USA lasted until 1995, but, for example, in Iran it was completed only in 2001. The car appeared in the minds of Poles thanks, among others, to the TV series “McGyver” and the film “Young Wolves”.

The car comes with inline engines 2.5, 4.0 and 4.2, which are combined with an automatic or manual transmission. It was created only in two-door versions, which included, among others, a variant with a removable roof. In total, more than 685 thousand units of this generation were sold.

It is worth looking around for special versions of equipment. The first is the Wrangler Islander. The vehicle has, among other things, an enlarged fuel tank, a new wheel design, a center console with cup holders, a gray interior, distinctive colors, and the sills are painted in body color. This option was offered from 1988 to 1993. The second is the Renegade model, which has, among others, a 4.0 engine, a special wheel design, gas shock absorbers for off-road driving, power steering, a leather steering wheel, an enlarged 20-gallon fuel tank, lighting under the hood and other extras.

Jeep Wrangler - 2nd generation (TJ)

The second generation introduced design changes to the suspension. Until now, it was leaf, but it was replaced by the traditional combination of shock absorbers and springs. It was based on this from the Grand Cherokee model. The car was offered with 2.4, 2.5 and 4.0 engines. Production of this generation lasted from 1996 to 2006.

In 1998, the standard fuel tank capacity was increased to 19 gallons. In 2003, metal mirrors were replaced with plastic mirrors, and the 3-speed gearbox was replaced with a 4-speed with overdrive.

In 2004, the Unlimited version entered the range, which has a longer wheelbase and is therefore more comfortable for rear passengers. In the 2005 model year, the Wrangle Rubicon Unlimited was introduced with Dana 44 axles, a 6-speed manual transmission and Goodyear MT/R tires. There were also special limited editions — 60th Anniversary Edition and 65th Anniversary Edition, Tomb Raider Edition and Willys Edition.

Jeep Wrangler - 3rd generation (JK)

In 2006, a completely new Wrangler appeared, which was designed from scratch under the leadership of the DaimlerChrysler concern. The car was offered in 2-door and 4-door bodies and was produced in 2007-2018, with 2.8 diesel, 3.6 V6 and 3.8 V6 engines under the hood. This is the first generation of the Wrangler model with a V-engine. It is also the first generation to have 4 doors, thanks to which it reached a wider audience.

A rich electronics package appeared on board, which included ABS and traction control tuned for off-road driving, a stabilization control system, as well as electronically disconnected stabilizer bars and an electroshock.

In 2009, an uphill start assist system was added to the equipment. In 2010, a multimedia system with UConnect appeared. In 2011, the car's interior was refreshed, adding a new multimedia steering wheel and Garmin navigation. In 2012, the new 3.6 V6 Pentastar engine came under the hood, which has 285 hp and is more economical. In 2013, the way the rear seats were folded was changed, and from this year it can be done with one hand. In 2014, the Sport models added a 6.5" touch screen to the list of optional equipment. In 2015, a new Alpine audio system was installed.

Jeep Wrangler - 4th generation (JL)

The latest generation of the Wrangler has been produced since 2017. Hybrid drives and a 6.4 HEMI V8 engine have been added to the engine range. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In 2021, the first plug-in hybrid with the designation 4xe appeared. The range of the electric drive is up to 34 km according to the EPA standard. The V8 engine is available from 2021 in the Rubicon variant. Despite all these novelties, the car has retained its classic appearance and identity.

The new generation of the Wrangler is also safer. Reinforced B-pillars to reduce the effects of side impacts. Side airbags appeared in the list of standard equipment. The spare wheel is placed a little lower to give the driver a better view of what is happening in the back of the vehicle. Electronic safety systems came in one package called Active Safety.

Multimedia systems with 5", 7" and 8.4" touch screens appeared in the interior. The size of the screen depends on the version of the equipment. A 115 V AC outlet and USB sockets have also been added. The interior is inspired by the first generation of the Wrangler model.
