Ford Explorer V gen. (2011-2019)
Ford Explorer V generation was offered only in the US market. The car is based on the D4 platform, which it shares with the Taurus model. This means that it is more focused on providing comfort and good handling on the road. The emphasis here is on comfort for the whole family. The suspension is MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link design at the rear. The car was offered with front or all-wheel drive with the Terrain Management System, which has 4 modes - Normal, Mud/Ruts, Sand, Grass/Gravel/Snow.
In 2016, the first facelift of the V gen. model of the Ford Explorer appeared. The 2.0 EcoBoost engine was replaced by the 2.3 EcoBoost. Instead of the MyFord Touch system, SYNC 3 appeared. In appearance, the grill and headlights were changed. In 2018, further changes were made to include bumpers and taillights, and the Co-Pilot360 package was expanded.
In 2013-2019, the Sport version was offered with a 3.5 EcoBoost engine with 365 hp, which has, among other things, sports suspension and 20" wheels.

In 2020, the 6th generation Ford Explorer debuted, which is sold today. In Europe, it was available for only 3 years and was replaced by an electric model. It is worth knowing that the electric Explorer is not sold in the United States. The car is based on the CD6 platform, which it shares with the Lincoln Aviator. The hood and flap were made of aluminum. Available drives are RWD and AWD with TMS system with 7 operating modes. In 2025, BlueCruise, an autonomous driving system, was introduced.
Special versions include the Ford Explorer ST with a 400 hp 3.0 EcoBoost engine, focused on the off-road Explorer Timberline and the luxurious Explorer King Ranch. In 2025, the car underwent a facelift. Changed the grill, headlights and bumpers. Inside, the Ford Digital Experience system with a 13.2 “screen appeared, the number of trim versions was reduced to 4.
