Alfa Romeo Stelvio (2016-present)

Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a compact SUV that was built on the basis of the Giorgio platform, shared with the Giulia model. It is characterized by an almost perfect weight distribution (50:50), lightness and rigidity. For its production, aluminum and carbon fiber were used. It is designed for rear axle drive (RWD) by default, but is also available with all-wheel drive (AWD). Of course, there are some differences, and the most important of them is the increased ground clearance. In 2018, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio became the fastest SUV on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The car went through two lifts. The first took place in 2020. In the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the interior received a new 8.8" infotainment screen with online update function, an emergency call function, a new steering wheel and gear lever, and improved finishing materials for the dashboard. From the outside, the changes included improved bi-xenon headlights, new colors and new wheel designs. Added adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistant.

The second facelift was carried out in 2022 and included new LED headlights in a 3+3 layout, which was a reference to classic Alfa Romeo models, a new grille with black trim, tinted taillights, sequential turn signals and new wheel designs. Inside there were, among other things, a 12.3" digital instrument cluster, which became standard in the Quadrifoglio and Veloce versions, seats with improved lateral support and carbon fiber and aluminum inserts. The infotainment system was improved, navigation was enriched with an augmented reality function, a mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD) appeared in the Quadrifoglio and Akrapovic exhaust as an option. A blind spot monitoring assistant, a lane keeping assistant and a traffic jam assistant have been introduced.

The engine offering in the US included only gasoline engines. Diesel units enjoyed popularity only in Europe, including Poland. In the Quadrifoglio version of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the engine was developed in collaboration with Ferrari. This is a V6 with two turbochargers, which was built on the basis of the V8 engine, but two cylinders were removed. In the USA, there were two engine versions:

  • 2.0 R4 Turbo - 280 hp, 415 Nm, 8-speed automatic transmission, RWD or AWD drive, fuel consumption about 8 l/100 km in the combined cycle;
  • 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo - 505 hp, 600 Nm, 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD drive, fuel consumption approx. 12 l/100 km in the combined cycle.

Since the start of production, the following versions of equipment have appeared:

  • Stelvio (2018-2020) - has, among others, 18" wheels, bi-xenon headlights, LED rear lights, leather upholstery, seats with adjustment in 10 directions, dual-zone climate control, infotainment system with 6.5" screen, Alfa DNA system (driving modes), rear view camera, parking sensors, leather-trimmed steering wheel, theme, active braking assistant, collision warning system with the vehicle in front;
  • Sport (2018-2020) - the same as in Stelvio and additionally 19" rims, sports suspension, larger shift paddles, sports seats, aluminum inserts in the interior;
  • Ti (2018-2024) - the same as in Stelvio and additionally 8,8" infotainment screen, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, parking sensors in front;
  • Ti Sport (2018-2020) - the same as the Ti and additionally 20" rims, sports suspension, larger shift paddles, sports seats;
  • Ti Lusso (2018-2020) - the same as in Ti and additionally 20" wheels, premium leather upholstery, wooden inserts, electric steering column adjustment;
  • Sprint (2021-present) - replaced the basic version, has an 8.8" screen and AWD drive as standard;
  • Veloce (2021-2024) - equipment as in Sprint and additionally 20" rims, Dinamica/Alcantara upholstery, sports steering wheel with shift paddles, LSD differential, sports bumpers, suspension lowered by 10 mm;
  • Competizione (2021-2024) - Veloca-like equipment and additionally active suspension, black wheels 21", sports exhaust, leather upholstery with red stitching, Active Assist 2 package;
  • Quadrifoglio (2018-2024) - alloy wheels 20" (21" optional), sports seats, Alcantara upholstery, larger brake discs in front (ceramic as an option), Alfa DNA Pro system with Race mode, active front spoiler, carbon fiber inserts, sports steering wheel with start button, ADAS systems, from 2023 LED headlights;

Limited editions were also available on the US market:

  • Tributo Italiano (2023) - Veloce version enriched with 21" wheels with gold accents, special body colors, leather upholstery with red stitching, carbon fiber inserts, black grill, adaptive suspension, Harman Kardon audio system;
  • Intensa (2025) - Sprint version enriched with gold exterior accents, 20" wheels in black, leather upholstery with gold stitching, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio system;
  • Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversary/Super Sport (2024) - Quadrifoglio version enriched with unique Rosso Etna and Verde Montreal colors, forged 21" rims, gold brake calipers, logos with the designation of a special version, Alcantara upholstery with red stitching, rear spoiler.

Alfa Romeo has greatly complicated the equipment versions available in the USA. Only in 2025 it was decided to make a significant simplification and left only the base one, which can be enriched with additional packages and equipment options. In the same year, sales of the Quadrifoglio version were completed.
